With the cold weather approaching us I must remind everybody to please use caution
with your fire places, wood stoves and portable heaters. Many of these heating methods could cause serious injury and sometimes
death. With all three of these please keep you chimney clean since fires can start in chimneys that have not been cleaned.
With a blocked chimney you also have the possibility of Carbon Monoxide Poisioning. Carbon Monoxide is an oderless and tasteless
gas that is unseen to the eye. This gas can cause serious injury and death to you and your family. In order to prevent
this from happening make sure all your heating appliances are working correctly and there is good ventalation. Make sure you
change the battery in your CO detector on a regular basis and if you hear it going off please do not hesitate to call 911.
Once your CO detector goes off please get out of the house and to a secure spot where everyone is accounted for.
Also with snow quickly approaching please drive carefully and always keep your hydrant by your house
clear of snow. By doing this you help us hook up to the hydrant quicker should a fire ever happen. Remember when a fire does
happen time is very essential.
